Sporadic E and Tropo; is it the weather?
There’s no such thing as bad weather for radio, you’re just on an unsuitable band for what its doing to the propagation!  (with acknowledgement to Alfred Wainwright)
I shall explain how weather affects some of the more common propagation modes from 80m up to microwaves.  It plays a role in many QSOs and if you can understand how the basic mechanisms work, propagation will be less of a mystery and you will be able to judge when to operate for maximum advantage.
We’ll cover Tropo, Sporadic E and Rainscatter and I will leave you with some useful links to allow the DIY propagation planning to commence, so don’t be capacitive and follow, try to channel your inductive characteristics and get ahead of the weather.
